The National Immigration Administration announced today that it will officially issue a new version of the China permanent resident identity card for foreigners from December 1st. It can replace passports when registering for accommodation and purchasing a car, or when booking ship and plane tickets. The current version can still be used during the validity period. Holders can apply for the new card within that period.
